Every year, pupils in the local schools (13 local schools and just under 600 pupils) are given a bulb growing kit. The kit consists of a good quality plant pot, compost, instructions and bulbs. P4 receive a Prepared Hyacinth Blue Jacket and P5 receive three Narcissus Tete a Tete.
Sometime in September members of the society assemble these kits in the polytunnel in Ardardan and once assembled they are then delivered to the 13 schools.

In February all the grown bulbs are displayed at Ardardan where there are winners, both from each age group and school and an overall school winner receives the Ardardan Sheild. Check out competition write-ups from previous years below.
